A 57-year-old woman suffering from a rare lung disorder called Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis, or PAP, has been successfully treated at a hospital in New Delhi through a complex procedure. Doctors at Fortis Hospital performed a Whole Lung Lavage, washing both lungs with more than 30 litres of saline to remove abnormal protein accumulation, and the patient was discharged in a stable condition two days later. The woman, who had been bedridden for over a month, was completely weaned off oxygen support and maintained normal oxygen saturation levels after the procedure.
